HAKUBA SKI RESORTS

Hakuba Valley

Happo-one Ski Resort

Host of the downhill events at the 1998 Winter Olympics, Happo One is the largest and highest resort in Hakuba. With plenty of restaurants, fairly relaxed ski patrols and a new park, Happo One is a guaranteed great day out for everyone.

Goryu Ski Resort

With 3 different ski areas, including 1 gondola and 15 lifts, and well equipped base facilities (including a Subway), Goryu is a great resort for a variety of skill levels. Everyone has to ride the gondola to see the views but learners should come back down via the gondola because there are no green runs from the top although the Imori area is a great place for beginners to build their confidence. Goryu joins Hakuba 47 and the one pass can be used for both resorts.

Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park

Boasting one of Hakuba's best parks and a variety of challenging courses, Hakuba 47 has become very popular with intermediate to advanced boarders. All passes can be used at Goryu as well but think twice before heading off course as the ski patrol have a reputation for confiscating passes.

Iwatake Ski Resort

Well suited for beginner to intermediate levels, Iwatake is very popular among university student snowboarders. Situated right in front of Hakuba's tallest peak, it makes for some of the areas most open and dramatic scenery.

Tsugaike Kogen Ski Resort

Tsugaike Kogen Ski Resort is the largest resort in Otari Village. With 27 lifts a 3.6km long course, vertical drop of 880 meters (1680m-800m) and 12 varied courses. There is something here for everybody. Its the 2nd largest ski area in the Hakuba Valley with the longest gondola in this part of Japan. Its an excellent place to learn how to snowboard or ski because it has one of the largest learners areas in the world. Ideal for families and larger groups as the lift capacity means no lift lines.

The vastness of the hill makes each run different from each other. Choose any area to make your own tracks!
For those who enjoy moguls you will enjoy this field. With views of the valley its a good place to spend you day boarding or skiing.
